Genetic testing involves looking at the code, or letters that make up the different units of someone's DNA, to see if they are different from what we would expect. For Pan-GEM, we are using a technique called "DNA sequencing" and comparing the spelling of someone's DNA to the letters that we usually see. 

If we see a letter that is different than what we would expect, we then try and figure out if it could cause a health issue or if it is just a spelling difference that makes someone unique.
